Disclaimer: This blog is meant for someone who wishes to break the shackles of mediocrity, and rise up the value chain, to snatch power and position.

If you are satisfied with a 9-6 ‘stable’ job and have negligible aspirations to become big, then this blog ain’t for you.
The recent comments by L&T Chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan on working hours have stirred a hornet’s nest all over.. He said that employees should work 90 hours, and even work on Sundays.
The comment on working on Sundays, and “How long can you stare at your wife?” was unwarranted, and illogical. But the comments on “working hard” from the person who is heading a Rs 36,000 crore company should be analyzed from the prism of aspirations and goals.
To be honest, for the entrepreneur or an ambitious employee, the total number of hours should be the least priority.
It’s the goal that has to be achieved: And every livable moment should be devoted to it.
That’s the only way magic happens.. The person with no background in business, or Godfather can actually build a company that has empowered thousands of farmers, enabling a community of passionate agri-partners.
That’s precisely my story and the magic of the Hemp Foundation that we nurtured.
We didn’t count Sundays or weekdays, and we didn't calculate the hours.
It was our goal, and our ambitions that inspired us to work hard, harder than our competition, and faster than the market leader.
I started from scratch, with zero funding, and zero knowledge of how businesses work. The only goal that I had, was to make Hemp the leading source of fabric manufacturing, and my entire life was devoted to this goal.
It worked for us.
Understanding S.N. Subrahmanyan on working 90 hours per week, or Infosys founder Narayana Murthy asking employees to work 60 hours per week is not just a statement made by the biggest companies from their niche, but a call to action for the aspiring creator, daring entrepreneur, the ambitious salesman, to push hard. Hustle more.
The ones who are already privileged, and reached a position like Anand Mahindra, and Deepika Padukone are making fun of the statements by the L&T Chairman, and this is condemnable. The creator, the entrepreneur, and the salesman, have to hustle hard, work more than the competition, and create a path of success and growth.
It won’t be handed over to you on a plate! You will need to snatch it and own it.
The glow of success is the brightest when you devour your every breath to the goal.
No, mine is not a rags-to-riches story, but a tale of insane hard work, incalculable hours, and supreme sacrifice, to achieve the goal.
And to ensure success.
But, hard work shouldn’t be forced. It shouldn’t become a punishment. Recently, an intern at Ernst & Young (EY) died, because she was under pressure to work hard, and work extra hours. My own sister joined this company as a software engineer, and I was aghast with the news.
I can work 20 hours a day because I have a goal, a dream. No one is forcing me to work hard.
This mantra of working hard, extra hours ,and devotion should never be imposed on anyone.
If you have a goal in life, a dream that you wish to achieve, an impact that you are determined to make.. Then stop counting hours. And start doing the work like no one else has done.
It’s a my perspective. And it can be never imposed or enforced.
PS: My next startup is Ukhi, and we are already obsessed with the impact that it will create. And I am trying my best to replicate the success of the Hemp Foundation with Ukhi.
And trust me, hours, don't matter!
